Short Film Logo
Design Brief
This project was a personal passion project of a friend, who shot and directed a short martial arts film called Wuxing Warriors in collaboration with the Asian American Association at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In the film, 5 young warriors develop their own martial arts based off of different forms of traditional and modern Asian dance, and use their abilities to rid the world of demons. I was asked to help design a title logo for the film, taking inspiration from similar media like Shang-Chi (Marvel), Avatar: The Last Airbender (Nickelodeon), and Kung-Fu Panda (Dreamworks).
These are some of the inspirations the director of the film had given me when telling me about what he imagined the logo to look like. He hoped to replicate the intense energy and impact of these famous movie logos in our film logo. Including the Chinese title of the film was also of importance to him, as the Asian American representation in the film was significant.

Final Title Card
For the final title card, I used very bold, strong fonts to replicate the feel of an action/martial arts film. With some gritty metallic textures and gradients on the silver text outline, I was able to attribute a cold metal feel to the text. I separated the Chinese title layer and the English title layer before sending the files to the director/video editor, who added a smoky effect to create the final look in the trailer.
